John Waddingham, former editorial art director at the Oregonian and long time Portland artist passed away in 2002 at the age of 87, however his art lives on and he is well known as one of Portland's more successful artists.
Waddingham is mostly known for his watercolors and in particular cityscapes as well as portraits, but is also known for his drawings and printmaking. Over the decades, his work changed direction through impressionistic scenes to abstract work.
